So you have a whole bunch of Word documents opened at the same time and you want to Save or Close them all. Before selecting the File dropdown menu hold the Shift key down. Notice the new menu items: Close All and Save All.

Easy, huh?

Why would anyone want to make their own font?

BitfontMaker is a way to make some really horrible looking fonts - and slowly at that.

Instead, use a site that provides free fonts and I'm sure you could find one to fit any need.

Exe Library or Process Library?

Process Library wins, hands down. Process library goes well beyond just executables and the information on executables is better than the Exe Library provides.

Announcing IE7+: "announce that we will be naming the version of IE7 in Windows Vista “Internet Explorer 7+”. While all versions of IE7 are built from the same code base, there are some important differences in IE7+, most significantly the addition of Windows Vista-only features like Protected Mode, Parental Controls, and improved Network Diagnostics. These features take advantage of big changes in Windows Vista and weren’t practical to bring downlevel."

Resuming Normality part II

MeCanBe

MeCanBe approached me several months ago to review what they were going to be offering and possibly blog about it. What they are offering is a web 2.0 site where you can create a goal-list and share this with others or just keep to yourself to help you achive your goals.

At the time I wasn't all that impressed with the current state of the project and really wasn't interested in telling anyone else about it.

Well, I have seen the future of this website with some preview screenshots that was emailed to me and now I think they have finally created something that people may find useful. Not sure I would use it but some of you may.

My suggestions (without trying MeCanBe since there currently is nothing for the public to try):
  • Create an FAQ as there isn't enough documention on the website and people visiting once may not ever go back
  • Goals should be built on tasks and tasks should be tracked. Kinda like a group of tasks can become a goal. This could take the place of the Outlook Task List - which I use heavily
  • Tasks can be emailed, SMS'd, or even pushed to Google Calendar on a reminder basis as set when the task is entered
  • Tasks and goals can be 'tied' to other users of the site for assistance. This is what I believe the current thought process is for the website
Basically, Goals is great but tasks will appeal to a far wider audience.

CSS3 Preview

CSS3 Preview: "Many exciting new functions and features are being thought up for CSS3"

Instead of posting some of the new features I just provided a link to a blog that tells about some of the new features and shows some examples.

The question isn't what is new but when will browsers become compliant once CSS3 is a released standard.

In case you're looking for a great Quick Reference Guide for CSS2 then check out the one I threw together. What I did was print and laminate it, which gave me a very handy guide. Additional guides can be found in my Resource Center.

AlltheWeb Livesearch Beta

AlltheWeb Livesearch Beta launches from Yahoo!. What makes it different? It makes suggestions as you type for a search term. Very similiar to Google's Suggest.

The results come from the same index as Yahoo!.

Cons:
  • Not needed for copy and paste searches
  • Seems like 98% of a phrase has to be typed in for it to give you your search term (unless searching for Britney Spears).
  • If you type fast the suggestions can't keep up
  • Just feels weird using it
Pros:
  • Can offer alternate search terms as you type. Might be able to get you a more relative search phrase
  • The Refine Search options could be a useful feature. Most users have no clue about the power of Google's advance searching (or any search engine for that matter) and an Ajax powered 'Refine Search' could make it easier for users (hear me Google)
  • Looks kewl
