Critical vulnerabilities have been identified in the current versions of Adobe Flash Player (v9.0.159.0 and v10.0.22.87) for Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating systems, and the authplay.dll component that ships with Adobe Reader and Acrobat v9.x for Windows, Macintosh and UNIX operating systems. These vulnerabilities could cause the application to crash and could potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system. A quick overview before we dive into code, in today's tutorial we will go over two slightly different methods of creating pretty URLs using HTACCESS. The difference between the methods is whether Apache or PHP is doing the heavy lifting to break the URL apart for parsing. I want to point out that mod_rewrite tutorials are almost as old as the internet itself and this is not the first. At the end I will use one of the methods to create a simple application to show how these solutions would look in a real-live website (well not 100% production quality). Whether you're an expert or just getting started, building standards-based Web sites is faster and easier with Microsoft® Expression® Web 3. Expression Web contains flexible support for a wide range of essential technologies: PHP, HTML/XHTML, XML/XSLT, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.NET and ASP.NET AJAX, Silverlight, Flash, Photoshop files, and video/audio for webcasting. This is a great opportunity to get a free license for an up-coming-player in the web design application market. EW is hot the heals of Dreamweaver and is already converting many users. I have been using and testing EW since the first releases and each one moves it closer to a serious player in the web design game - still needs better support for PHP for my liking but I'm sure that's coming. Just download the trial to check it out. To enter leave a comment that either contains your email address or a link to your profile which contains your email address and say something that lets me know you want it. Thats it. Winner will be choosen at random in 24 hours. Link to Expression Web: http://www.microsoft.com/expression/products/Web_Overview.aspxGive away is now closed - the winner has been selected (Jeff)

Take Intel's venerable 8086 for example -- you might know it better as "x86". Released in 1979, just a decade after Apollo 11's trip to the Moon, the 8086's cousin, the 8088, formed the basis for the IBM PC we all know and love. When the IBM PC "XT" was released in 1981, the lowest end configuration had 8 times more memory than Apollo's Guidance Computer -- 16k, vs the Apollo's 2k. The read-only storage of the AGC was 32k,
The IBM PC XT also ran at a dizzying clock speed of 4.077MHz. That's 0.004077 GHz. The Apollo's Guidance Computer was a snail-like 1.024 MHz in comparison, and it's external signaling was half that -- actually measured in Hz (1/1000th of 1 MHz, much as 1 MHz is 1/1000 of 1 GHz). Mozilla just wrapped up the Firefox 3.5 release a few weeks ago, but they are already going to town on what they can do for future improvements. When they redesigned Firefox 3.0 I thought the new designs were okay, but they weren’t anything that seemed to be revolutionary.
What’s neat about Mozilla, however, is that they’re not afraid to show the world what they’re thinking about doing months or even years ahead of time. They aren’t afraid of the competition coming along and outdoing them, and as a result they can get a lot of quality feedback so that they can fine tune the various aspects of the browser before it gets shipped out to the world. All P2P networks must go "establishment" someday, and today another formerly popular P2P service rended by courtroom battles announced it has turned around. Like P2P pioneer Napster did six years ago, this morning, Kazaa (now with just one capital letter) has come back as www.kazaa.com, a subscription-based music service with all of the "big four" major labels in its corner. I would NEVER trust Kazaa no matter what they did. There application was such a piece of garbage that destroyed systems to earn them revenue that this company should be avoided at all costs. Typically, there are two main ways of debugging server-side code: you can utilize an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) with a built-in debugger or log and perform your debugging processes in a web browser.
This article shares an elegant, simple, and more maintainable way of debugging Ajax apps via the web browser (more specifically for the Mozilla Firefox browser). You’ll learn the basics of leveraging Firefox in conjunction with Firebug and FirePHP to implement FirePHP libraries on web apps and logging messages in the Firebug console. I don’t know what timezone Microsoft’s web servers are running on, but it’s revealed the much anticipated Office 2010 release in great detail way ahead of the expected official announcement at the Microsoft Worldwide Partners Conference 2009. I'm still on Office 2003 and have never had that "I wish this application did this" moment so I'm not sure I need to upgrade. Add to that my dislike for 'ribbons'. As smart and popular as Google may be, the success of Chrome OS is not a fait accompli. Sometimes the smartest and most popular kid at school simply falls on his face. Google Chrome OS could very well turn out to be that kid.

Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because we're already talking to partners about the project, and we'll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve. Did you ever doubt that Google would someday release an Operating System? I didn't. Link: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/...Labels: google, open source
