Hacker Disables More Than 100 Cars Remotely

More than 100 drivers in Austin, Texas found their cars disabled or the horns honking out of control, after an intruder ran amok in a web-based vehicle-immobilization system normally used to get the attention of consumers delinquent in their auto payments.

Google Mobile Website Tester

Did you know that Google provided a tool to test your website to see how it will view in a mobile browser? Probably not as most don't.

Its not the best but will give you an idea of how a limited browsing device will show your website.

If you're interested in testing in more modern mobile devices this is what I use:

iPhone:
Because I'm on Windows I use Safari for Windows and reduce the width of the browser down to around 320px (the lowest width it will go). Gives you a great idea of how it will look - probably 99% accurate.

Unhide a friend from the Facebook Timeline

Ever hide someone in Facebook only to later want to see there posts in your timeline? Hiding someone is easy, just mouseover a post and click the Hide button that appear on the right. Unhiding, that's a little tricky. Here's how to do it:

Go to your Facebook homepage
Make sure you're displaying the Newsfeed - click the Newsfeed link on the left if needed
Scroll all the way to the bottom of your Newsfeed.
Click the Edit Options link on the right side of the bottom bar
Click the X next to any name in the Hide listbox to unhide them

The avionics system in the F-22 Raptor, the current U.S. Air Force frontline jet fighter, consists of about 1.7 million lines of software code. The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, scheduled to become operational in 2010, will require about 5.7 million lines of code to operate its onboard systems. And Boeing’s new 787 Dreamliner, scheduled to be delivered to customers in 2010, requires about 6.5 million lines of software code to operate its avionics and onboard support systems.

These are impressive amounts of software, yet if you bought a premium-class automobile recently, ”it probably contains close to 100 million lines of software code,” says Manfred Broy, a professor of informatics at Technical University, Munich, and a leading expert on software in cars. All that software executes on 70 to 100 microprocessor-based electronic control units (ECUs) networked throughout the body of your car.

That's a lot of code. I can't imagine the test procedures that are in place...

In Italy today, Judge Oscar Magi convicted three U.S.-based Google (GOOG) executives of violating the privacy of a disabled boy in 2006 when a video was posted on Google Video of students bullying a disabled boy. I like watching the performance of my applications, monitoring network connections, and all of that stuff most people would never think twice about. One of the most popular utilities for doing this is the Process Explorer that is put out by Microsoft, but there’s another free app that I really love called System Explorer.

A new analysis of number randomness in Sudoku matrices could lead to the development of more difficult and multi-dimensional Sudoku puzzles. In a recent study, mathematicians have found that the way that numbers are arranged in Sudoku puzzles is even more random than the number arrangements in randomly-generated matrices. The counter-intuitive discovery may enable researchers to develop algorithms that generate Sudoku matrices with fewer clues, making them more difficult to solve.
